These students took inspiration from van Gogh's Starry Night. Students used sponges, paint brushes and Q-tips to create their "van Gogh brush marks". Artists get ideas from the world around them. Inspiration can come from nature, art materials and even other artists. This video from You Tube shows an artist getting ideas from van Gogh's Starry Night.

Students rotate through different art stations to experience manipulative materials and to create in groups. Here is a sample of the different drawing, modeling clay, and building centers the students are working on in December. Second grade students created these murals to thank Miss Renae, our wonderful school custodian, for keeping our school clean and bright. |
